“MISUNDERSTOOD BUT HE’S STRONG! I CAN RELATE TO THAT.” / “HE’S SO HOT. HE’S A GUY IN TIGHTS SPRAYING STICKY STUFF EVERYWHERE.” / “OUT OF ALL THE SUPERHEROES, HE IS THE HOTTEST.”
You know it’s generally known
You got everything at home
Kisses out of desperation
Bring you more aggravation
And you don’t come close
You don’t come close
You don’t come close
You bring out your souvenirs
Soak them wet with your tears
You lose your imagination
Out of more aggravation
And you don’t come close
You don’t come close
You don’t come close
You turn red with rage
But act your age
Only thing that your regret
You need more time to forget
And you don’t come close
You don’t come close
You don’t come close
Do teenage girls still fantasize about making out with rock ‘n’ roll bands?
I want you around
I want you around
They’re telling us
They’re gonna make a fuss
About the two of us
I want you around
I want you around
I know what you’re thinking about
That you must have some doubts
I know what you’re thinking
When you find out
I want you around
You know if it comes true
I’ll be so good to you
I’ll never treat you cruel
As long as I’ve got you around
I want you around
I want you around
You heard that I’m no good
Yeah, yeah I’m no good
But I’ll treat you like I should
I want you around
I want you around
You know if it comes true
I’ll be so good to you
I’ll never treat you cruel
As long as I’ve got you around
I want you around
I want you around
They’re telling us
They’re gonna make a fuss
About the two of us
I want you around
I want you around
I want you around
I want you around
My favorite song by my favorite band.
If you know shit about me you know I spell rock ‘n’ roll R - A - M - O -N - E - S and accept no arguments against their greatness. The first three albums (shit, really the first four) are golden. From Ramones to Rocket to Russia they cemented their legacy over three albums and touring with their original line-up of Joey on vocals, Dee Dee on bass, Johhny on guitar, and Tommy on drums.
They had great songwriters in Joey and Dee Dee who turned dumb adolesence (read: the angst of being bored) into avant-garde pop music. One of the first bands that ever appealed to me when I was a kid. Odd buncha guys who turned out allright in this world. Love them to death. R.I.P. to Joey, Johnny, and Dee Dee Ramone.
This song is cute and Tommy wrote it. Dee Dee once said they could have made a million dollars if they sold it to the Bay City Rollers. Fuck that. The Ramones did the song best. They got their money in merchandising in the long run anyway.
This live clip is from 1980 in Paris and features Marky on drums after Tommy’s departure (just so you know… Tommy was the best drummer they ever had).
